Homicide detectives are investigating after two people were found dead in the front seat of a vehicle Friday evening.
The vehicle was parked in a residential area in southwest Edmonton near 173 Street and 11 Avenue.
Investigators arrived on scene around 7:40 p.m. Friday after a passerby noticed the bodies.
Scott Pattison, a spokesperson with the Edmonton Police Service, described the neighbourhood as quiet, new and fairly affluent.
“Certainly crime happens anywhere in a big city but I’m sure the residents of this neighbourhood, very quiet, don’t expect something like this to happen here,” said Pattison.
Haseeb Rehman lives a few doors down from where the vehicle was parked and told CTV Edmonton that he was heading out to pick up dinner Friday but was stopped by police officers who told him to go back inside.
“They asked did you hear any gunshots anything like that,” said Rehman. “But we didn't hear anything.”
The age, sex and identities of the deceased have not been released.
An autopsy has yet to be scheduled.
