RCMP in northern Alberta have laid a number of charges against a man, days after he was taken into custody by police.
On May 15, RCMP surrounded a home in Grande Prairie, and took a number of people into custody – and obtained a search warrant.
Inside the home, investigators found and seized about $17,000 in cash, marijuana, cocaine, 300 prescription pills, a total of 6 restricted and prohibited firearms, a crossbow, and a significant amount of ammunition and firearms accessories.
Later, all but one of the individuals arrested were released.
As a result, RCMP said Rudolph Klemusch, 24 – also known as ‘The Russian’ – is facing 28 new charges including five counts of possession of a controlled substance, 20 firearms-related charges, a count of possession of proceeds of crime and two counts of breach of recognizance.
Klemusch remains in custody, and is expected to appear in court May 21.
At the time of his arrest, the accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for charges including drug trafficking and failing to appear in court.
