Edmonton police are investigating, after a pickup truck and a motorcycle were involved in an early morning crash on the west end.
Police said the crash happened at 170 Street and Stony Plain Road just before 5 a.m.
The driver of the truck told CTV News he was heading northbound on 170 Street when the motorcycle crossed his path.
He said it took a moment for him to realize the motorbike had been heading east on a westbound one-way roadway when the crash happened.
The intersection was closed as police investigated the crash; motorists were diverted and were dealing with delays for several hours.
Police said just before 11:30 a.m. that the area had been re-opened to traffic.
CTV News has learned the 35-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, but he’s expected to survive.
Emergency officials said the man suffered multiple broken bones, but he was wearing a helmet, which officials said likely saved his life.
