Updated marking rules passed their first reading before the Edmonton Public School Board Tuesday, in a move that could abolish the much-publicized ‘no-zero’ policy.
EPSB members voted unanimously Tuesday to make changes to their student assessment policy – which includes a provision to allow teachers at all schools to give any mark.
The move comes after the ‘no-zero’ policy made headlines after Ross Sheppard High School teacher Lynden Dorval was fired, for continuing to give students zeros – against school policy.
Now, the policy will have to go through six weeks of public consultations.
