Police are investigating after two men were shot near Whyte Avenue.
Officers responded to calls of gun shots at 82 Avenue and 104 Street at 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
“The two injured parties were already gone before police arrived,” Staff Sgt. Steven Chwok explained, adding the two men, both in their 20s, ended up at the University of Alberta hospital.
One of the victims who suffered minor injuries was released and Staff Sgt. Chwok said police had already spoken to him.
The other victim remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.
Scarlett Knight told CTV News she heard gunshots and saw some people running in the area just before police arrived.
“I came down this alley and I stopped to let a vehicle out and just before I stopped I heard a bunch of gunfire all around my RV,” she explained.
“The first thing that went through my mind was duck.
“Then I saw a bunch of kids running and I saw a guy get in the back of a vehicle, he had blood on him.”
Edmonton resident Bill Winterton said the incident was an unfortunate part of living in a big city.
“Usually its bad people shooting other bad people so if you don’t want to be shot don’t be a bad person.”
Staff Sgt. Chwok said police don’t believe the shooting was a random act.
