Northern Alberta RCMP are investigating, after a welding truck collided with a logging truck, killing the passenger.
Police said officers were called to the scene of the crash at Highway 43 near Windfall turnoff, about 15 kilometres west of Whitecourt at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
On the scene, police found a welding truck had crashed into the back of a loaded logging truck – both vehicles were travelling eastbound on the highway.
The passenger in the welding truck, who RCMP identified as Clinton Lattery, 27, of Rocky Mountain House, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was not injured, but was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.
Police have charged Ryan Douglas Florence, 30, of Brooks, with impaired driving causing death, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of more than .08 causing death, and driving while unauthorized.
