Police north of Edmonton are investigating after human remains were found inside a burned-out vehicle found in rural Lamont County over the weekend.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP said officers were called to Township Road 572 between Range Roads 201 and 202 at about 5 p.m. Sunday, January 10 – after reports came in that a burned vehicle was in the area.
Officers arrived, and found the damaged vehicle – investigators examined the car and found human remains. The scene was secured and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Section was brought in to investigate.
Investigators are working to identify the individual who was found in the car.
In the meantime, police are trying to work out the movement of the car leading up to its discovery – the vehicle is described as a white 2013 BMW 328i two-door coupe, it’s believed the car was in the Fort Saskatchewan and Bruderheim areas during the week of January 4, 2016.
