Investigators unveiled a new tactic they’re using as they continue to investigate the slaying of a young woman, whose remains were found last year near Beaumont - but police still don’t have a suspect.
On Tuesday, RCMP unveiled a series of billboards that make up part of a poster campaign to generate more tips in the death of Amber Tuccaro, 20.
The case dates back to August 18, 2010, which is the date Tuccaro was last seen alive, in southeast Leduc – and the billboards will go up in near where she was last seen.
“Because of the Locationof where she went missing from is why we’re targeting this area,” Cpl. J.P. Zenko with Project KARE said. “We’re hoping someone from this area recognizes that voice.”
Just over two years after her disappearance, RCMP released recordings of a cell phone conversation, which included Tuccaro, and the voice of an unknown man who reportedly gave the young woman a ride.
A few days later, RCMP confirmed the missing person case had become a homicide investigation when human remains, found near Beaumont, were confirmed to belong to Tuccaro.
The posters revealed Tuesday are part of a campaign to renew a call for tips related to that recording, as RCMP have not yet identified the man speaking on the recording.
“That person behind that voice recording, I say to you, if you’re any kind of man, step forward and reveal yourself,” Chief Steve Courtoreille of the Mikisew First Nation said.
Anyone with information that could help RCMP investigate is asked to contact RCMP through Project KARE by calling 1-877-412-KARE (5273).
