Teen charged in stabbing at Alberta recreation centre
A teen boy has been charged after a stabbing at a northern Alberta recreation centre.
Emergency crews were called to the MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
A 41-year-old man was found on the second floor near the fitness centre suffering from a stab wound to the shoulder.
He was taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is set to appear in court on Jan. 21.
Mounties say this is not believed to be a random act of violence.
