Police have laid charges against two teenaged boys, after two separate threatening messages were reported to police.

The first incident investigators heard about took place on Thursday, Dec. 13, when it’s alleged a 15-year-old male sent a threatening text.

In the second incident, it’s alleged a threatening post in a chat room was written by a local 16-year-old.

Both incidents were investigated over the weekend, and the suspects were charged Monday.

Edmonton Police said any threat – whether it’s verbal or through social media – to a person, group or location, is a crime.

The teens have been charged with one count each of uttering threats dangerous to the public.

Both remain in custody for evaluation, and have been scheduled to appear in court later this week.
