Specialized enforcement teams from both sides of the provincial border have teamed up to arrest a well-known, wanted drug dealer in Lloydminster.

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Lloydminster, RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team and Lloydminster RCMP arrested a 41-year-old man on Jan. 2.

ALERT seized several items from a Lloydminster apartment, which include a sawed-off shotgun, cocaine, fentanyl and ammunition, a news release said on Wednesday.

The suspect remains in custody and was arrested for outstanding warrants for assault and has a “significant” history of drug-related offences.

He now faces five charges which include possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

“We have an established intelligence sharing model between agencies, between the provinces, which has proven effective in targeting those who endanger community safety through their criminal activities,” said Sgt. Bruce MacLean in the release.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
