There are a wide variety of family-oriented events throughout the capital region to mark Canada’s 147th birthday.

Canada Day celebration at the Alberta Legislature
Celebrations start at 10 a.m., end at 10 p.m.

Lighting of the High Level Bridge followed by Canada Day fireworks
Tens of thousands of LED lights will be turned on officially for the first time, and synchronized to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra performing O Canada at 11 p.m., followed by the Canada Day fireworks finale.

Celebration at City Hall
Free family events between 1 and 4 p.m. at City Hall

Canada Day events planned at City of Edmonton facilities throughout the city.

Celebrate Canada Day at Scona Pool
Canada Day free swim and barbecue from 1 to 4 p.m. at Scona Pool (10450 72 Ave. NW). Hosted by the Friends of Scona Pool

Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration
Free family events start at 1 p.m. in the middle of Mill Woods Park (23 Ave. and 66 St.), concert starts at 3 p.m. with headliner Adam Gregory, set to end at 11 p.m. with a fireworks finale.

Free Canada Day Pancake Breakfast at Oliver Community League
Hosted by MLA Laurie Blakeman, with celebrity pancake flippers Councillors Ben Henderson and Scott McKeen, and former councillor Michael Phair between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Oliver Community League (10326 118 Street).

Leduc Canada Day 2014
Starts with a pancake breakfast at the Leduc Legion (5210 50 Avenue) from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Canada Day Parade at noon, and an outdoor concert at the east Leduc Recreation Centre (4330 Black Gold Dr.) parking lot, ending with a fireworks display at William F. Lede Park.

St. Albert Canada Day 2014
Activities start at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at École La Mission (46 Heritage Dr. St. Albert), continues with variety of family activities, and a fireworks finale at Mission Park.

Spruce Grove Canada Day 2014
Activities begin at 8 a.m. with entertainment, followed by family-friendly events throughout the day, ending with fireworks at 11 p.m.

Stony Plain Canada Day 2014
Events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting with a Citizenship Ceremony at Heritage Park (5100 41 Avenue), and followed by a Show and Shine, Art Walk, Kids Zone and live entertainment.

Strathcona County Canada Day celebrations
Starting with a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sherwood Park Community Centre (401 Festival Lane), a parade at 10 a.m., followed by family activities until 10:30 p.m., with a fireworks finale over Broadmoor Lake Park (2025 Oak Street).

Fort Saskatchewan Canada Day Celebrations
Starts with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., wrapping up at 11 p.m. with fireworks from the top of the Rotary Amphitheatre in the river valley.
