A pilot has died following a plane crash south of Fort McMurray.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said they responded to the incident around 2:30 p.m. Friday, just 45 minutes after the plane’s departure.
Officials located the upside down aircraft in a body of water at a remote location.
The pilot and only occupant of the plane were recovered by the Department of National Defense Search and Rescue from Cold Lake.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Alberta’s Transportation Safety Board has been called in to assist with the investigation.
