Edmonton police are investigating after one person was killed and another was seriously injured in an apparent shooting outside the Tribute Lounge on 105 Street, south of Whyte Avenue.
Witnesses report multiple shots fired around 2:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday. Numerous police cruisers arrived on scene around 2:40 a.m. and the area was cordoned off to vehicles and pedestrians.
Police confirm a man in his 30s died in hospital while a second man sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say both men appeared to have been shot.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
“We had a couple groups of individuals drinking in the bar, the Tribute Lounge. There was some sort of an altercation outside the bar at closing time,” said Staff Sgt. Bill Clark with Edmonton's homicide unit.
Late Sunday morning, the forensic team remained on scene and a section of 105 Street was closed to traffic.
Investigators initially said they they had one man in his custody, but later said they did not have a suspect in custody.
