Edmonton police are investigating after a young man was stabbed early Friday morning at a north Edmonton transit station.
At about 6:15 a.m., emergency crews were called to the Coliseum Transit Station after reports someone had been stabbed.
Police confirmed the incident happened just as two males were getting off a bus – but it’s not clear where the dispute began.
It’s not clear whether the two individuals were known to each other.
EPS said Edmonton Transit System drivers and LRT police rushed to help the victim and attempted CPR until paramedics arrived.
“Our operators this morning called in an emergency to our control centre,” Ron Gabruck with ETS said. “Our operators instrumenting, assisting the police and rendering first aid, that sort of thing.”
Investigators said officers were accessing surveillance footage from a variety of sources near the LRT station and bus stop in an attempt to determine the events leading up to the incident.
The suspect fled the scene, he is described as:
- Caucasian teen
- About 6’ tall
- Short, dark hair
Wearing a royal blue hoodie or sweatshirt with the words ‘It’s not you, it’s me’ in bold lettering on the front.
