RCMP said a three-year-old boy died Monday, after he was found floating in Mink Lake, west of Stony Plain, Sunday evening.
Police said the little boy was found in the water near the beach by an 11-year-old boy, who called for help.
Adults in the area started CPR, which paramedics took over once they arrived – police said they were called just after 9 p.m. Sunday.
The little boy was rushed to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, where he passed away Monday.
Victim Services is supporting those who witnessed and helped in rescuing the boy, in addition to helping the boy’s family.
The child’s name will not be released, although RCMP confirmed the boy was a resident of Edmonton.
However, RCMP are investigating, and ask anyone camping at Mink Lake, just west of Stony Plain, south on Highway 770, to contact them, if they have information about the incident.
