Alberta Health Services (AHS) concluded this year's Toys for Tickets campaign last week.

Toys for Tickets is an annual initiative which allows people who received an AHS parking ticket a chance to pay off the fine by donating a brand-new toy to the cause.

The campaign ended on Dec. 20 and collected more than 1,150 toys provincewide, which will be donated to local charities who will give them to children in need.

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible community that turned parking tickets into moments of compassion," said Mark Van Damme, the AHS manager of parking operations in a Monday media release.

"(Their) support has truly brightened the season for both our staff and the young hearts that will now have more toys to play with over the holidays," he added.

In 2022, AHS collected more than 470 toys from the campaign. Last year the campaign brought in 870 toys for the cause.
