2 Alberta men charged with sex crimes involving children in separate investigations
Two registered sex offenders are facing charges after separate investigations in northern Alberta.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE) conducted the investigations and arrested the two men.
A 35-year-old man from a rural Edmonton-area community, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victim, was arrested on Nov. 29.
He was charged with possession, making and transmitting child pornography, as well as breach offences.
He is accused of sharing child exploitation images of a family member.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 7.
He was previously charged by ICE in 2014.
Clifford Roslund, 40, of Kinsella, Alta. was arrested on Dec. 18.
He was charged with possession, distribution and accessing child pornography.
ICE was notified by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children after child sexual abuse material was shared online.
Roslund was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 13.
He was previously convicted of sexual interference in 2012.
Both men are registered with the Sexual Offender Registry Centre of Alberta because of previous convictions.
Police say there is no link between the two other than the types of crimes they are accused of.
