A 60-year-old female from the Didsbury area will appear in court Monday, answering to a charge of second-degree murder after her spouse was found dead at the couple's rural property.

RCMP identify the accused as Heather Wilson Duncan. They are not releasing the name of her 68-year-old husband.

Police say they were dispatched to the residence after a woman called them around 6 p.m. Friday, telling them she had shot her partner. Officers say she was arrested without incident.

According to officials, the couple did not have a history of domestic violence investigations.

Didsbury is a town located near the Queen Elizabeth II Hwy, about halfway between Red Deer and Calgary.
