Hours after fire crews were called to a house fire in Beaumont, officials said human remains were found inside the home.
Firefighters were called to the home at about 7 a.m., the fire was extinguished by crews before 8 a.m. Monday – and firefighters found the body, believed to be a man in his 50s, inside.
Visible damage to the duplex includes broken windows and some charring around the side door.
No official details have been released on the cause of the fire.
Members with the RCMP Forensics Unit were called to the scene late Monday morning – the death is being treated as suspicious.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
