A large, rapidly spreading brush fire prompted Grande Prairie RCMP to issue a warning to travellers near Clairmont Saturday night.

Mounties asked the public to avoid the area around Range Roads 54 and 52, between Township Roads 730 and 732.

The fire was at risk of spreading to nearby forested areas and infrastructure, and traffic was diverted while firefighters worked.

RCMP asked the public to avoid the area again on Sunday, as crews continued to battle the fire.
