Dozens of workers were evacuated Monday morning due to an industrial fire at a facility in northeast Edmonton.
Officials told CTV News more than 30 people were evacuated from the Owens Corning Canada fiberglass plant, as crews responded to a fire inside.
Shortly after emergency crews were called, a second alarm was sounded – officials said crews were calling in more help due to the size of the building.
“Once they got inside they found a small fire contained to one piece of machinery and got the fire under control by 10:48 [a.m.],” Deputy Chief Scott Macdonald with Edmonton Fire Rescue said. “All the employees were accounted for and moved to the building off to the west.”
According to officials, the industrial fire did not pose a hazard to the environment; investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
No injuries were reported, and the extent of damage is unknown.
