One man is dead after a single vehicle collision on Anthony Henday Drive.
Officer responded to the incident on Anthony Henday Drive and 91 Street just before noon Saturday.
Eyewitnesses’ told police they saw an SUV heading eastbound on the curbside lane of Anthony Henday Drive.
The vehicle then left the road and struck a large overhead sign post, and then started on fire.
“The entire vehicle was actually contained with the fire,”Const. Scott Deputat explained.
He added that witnesses on the scene were unable to rescue the man from the vehicle.
Emergency crews extinguished the fire but the driver was declared dead at the scene.
Police are still investigating the incident and have not yet released the name of the deceased.
Const. Deputat said they do not believe that road factors were an issue in the collision.
