An Arctic High pressure system continues to dominate the weather pattern at the surface.
Aloft - we're stuck in an upper trough of cold air that doesn't want to move out.
The high pressure system will drift off the SE over the next day or 2.
But, the cold air stays put until the weekend.
A pocket of warmer air will drive it's way north into the Yukon and then slowly drop in on us Saturday/Sunday.
There's still some question as to just HOW much warmer we'll get on Sunday.
Saturday should be in the -8 to -12 range.
But the CMC ensemble has a range of 0 to -15 for Sunday!
Meanwhile, the GFS ensemble is projecting -6.
I'll stick with a forecast high of -5 for now.
(i'm just trying to be within 2 degrees & the -3 to -7 range looks likely at this point)
Long-term model output has temperatures in the -4 to -9 range for most of next week.
That's still well below average.
The average high for the next 5 days is +1.
The average high for next week is -1.
