He made his world debut 18 minutes into the new year and while Treffen Atchison may have taken his time he still managed to clinch the title of first Edmonton baby of 2010.
Treffen was born at 12:18 a.m. at the Misericordia Hospital weighing a healthy 9 lbs 8 ounces. His parents Mary Grace and Jordan say while they are thrilled their son was the first baby of 2010 they expected another baby to have been born earlier.
"We weren't really expecting it, whatever happened, happened," said Jordan Atchison. "No competition until the very end."
The Atchisons say they wanted their son to have a unique name. He was named after the town of Treffen, Austria.
