Officials issued an evacuation order for residents of a northwest Alberta district, due to a massive wildfire in British Columbia.
A state of local emergency and evacuation order were declared Tuesday, at about 5:25 p.m. for the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16.
The alert states anyone in the area south of the Wapiti River, west of Nose Creek and the Two Lakes Road and north of Township 61.
Officials said anyone in that area must leave, close doors and gates, and take all personal items with them.
The state of emergency and evacuation order was called due to a serious fire burning near the B.C.-Alberta border.
More information can be found on the Municipal District of Greenview’s website.
On Tuesday evening, the website was experiencing delays - officials said the latest information could be found on the MD of Greenview No 16 Twitter page.
