EDMONTON -- A fire in central Edmonton burned late into the night on Saturday.

Crews were called to 97 Street and 111 Avenue around 8 p.m. and found smoke coming out of a boarded-up abandoned house.

The blaze wasn't called under control until after 1 a.m.

Firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

No one was inside the house when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is not known; investigators were returning to the scene Sunday.
