A massive blaze at a west end condo building, early Monday, forced hundreds from their homes in The Hamptons.
Fire crews arrived to tackle flames at the condo, near 199 Street and Hammond Gate, around 1:30 a.m., as around 400 residents spilled onto the streets.
City buses were brought in for the evacuees, as the Red Cross worked to find temporary accommodations.
Fire crews estimate that as many as a third of the units in the 200-unit building could be completely destroyed. The heaviest damage occured in the centre of the complex.
It's not clear when resident will be allowed back inside the building.
No serious injuries have been reported, however one person at the scene was treated for smoke inhalation.
Officials said investigators had determined the fire had been caused by smoking materials - damage is estimated to be between $7 million and $8 million.
Condo board officials told CTV News a meeting had been planned for displaced residents at the River West Christian Church (19815 45 Avenue NW) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
