Edmonton police said the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit had seized  a large amount of fentanyl during an investigation.

The EDGE Unit conducted an investigation that resulted in officers executing a search warrant at a home in the area of 102 Avenue and 117 Street on April 22.

As a result of their search, officers seized the following:

  • 824 Fentanyl pills with a street value of $41,200
  • 14 grams of cocaine with a street value of $800
  • $8,300 cash seized as proceeds of crime

Police said Fentanyl has become more widely available in Edmonton recently – calling it relatively new and dangerous, saying it simulates the effects of heroin and oxycodone.

A suspect was arrested on April 22 in the area of 124 Avenue and 153 Street.

Danny Ho Ming Chui, 33, is facing two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
