A 31-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of a taxi cab driver on the Samson Cree Nation.
Tyrus Brent White of Samson Cree Nation has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 52-year-old Dale Christensen of Wetaskiwin.
Christensen received fatal stab wounds after picking up a fare Monday night.
An autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning and the taxi cab driver’s death was determined to be a homicide.
The husband and father of two owned his own company called Wetaskiwin City Taxi. He worked for a year at Eagle Taxi before starting his own business.
"It's a tough way to go, his family must be so devastated. We are, the drivers here are taking it hard," said Pat Hay, owner of Eagle Taxi.
The accused, Tyrus White will appear in court later this month.
