Edmonton police said members of the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit have arrested a male suspect, and seized hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of cocaine.
Police said investigators executed search warrants at two homes, one in the Chappelle neighbourhood, and the other in the Mactaggart neighbourhood, on Thursday, February 23.
In the home in Chappelle, police seized 6 kilograms of packaged cocaine hydrochloride with an estimated value of $434,000, a kilogram of buffing agent, and other cocaine-related tools and solvents.
In the other home, police found and seized another 6 grams of cocaine hydrochloride with an estimated value of $420, $3,260 in Canadian currency, a money counter, other cocaine-related tools and solvents, along with a variety of drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Detectives also found a hidden compartment in the trunk of a Toyota Rav 4 that was also seized as part of the investigation.
As a result, Duy Nguyen, 31, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.
