Vegreville RCMP were called to a fire at Mundare Farm Equipment Wednesday night, only to find the shop and storefront already engulfed in flames.
Both the Mundare and Vegreville fire departments were able to contain the fire, but the business had already suffered significant damage.
RCMP say the fire stared around 8 p.m. inside the shop where two men were working on snowmobiles. A trouble-light they were using broke and ignited gasoline being drained from a nearby snowmobile.
The two men tried to extinguish the fire, but were unable to put the blaze out using a fire extinguisher in the shop.
Both men safely escaped from the building without injury.
This is the second business in Mundare in less than a week that has been destroyed by flames. Barbara Gee's Decor and More store caught fire and burnt on December 6. The fire was contained but a Chinese restaurant next to it suffered smoke and water damage.
Police don't believe the fires are connected and say the cause of both appears to be accidental.
One resident who owns a nearby business thinks it may be a douse of bad luck, but says she is still taking some extra safety measures.
"We have a fork lift and some propane and stuff on site, so we are taking extra precaution," said Sarah Zeballos who owns the bottle depot next to the decor store.
Mundare's Mayor Mike Saric says even though one man's clothing caught fire during the most recent blaze, no serious injuries were reported.
"The fact that everyone was able to walk away from this without any injury is just a blessing."
The owner of Mundare Farm Equipment says he will rebuild. And the owner of the Chinese restaurant will also re-open. It's not known if Barbara Gee's Decor and More store will rebuild.
