The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) investigation into an officer-involved shooting dating back to March, 2015 has wrapped up, and officials said police have been cleared of wrongdoing.
Back on March 24, 2015, a woman called police, saying she had fled an apartment, after a physical confrontation with a man – she told police the man was armed with a crossbow.
ASIRT investigators said there was a standoff, with the man firing arrows at police officers.
The man then came out a second time, and aimed at officers – who opened fire. The man was hit once in the upper body, the 40-year-old man had surgery and survived.
Following an investigation, ASIRT confirmed Monday that the use of force by police was justified.
