Edmonton police said Monday afternoon that one person was dead, after a tractor-trailer and car collided.

Police said the collision occurred at about 5:40 p.m. Monday, on Princess Elizabeth and Kingsway Avenues.

It’s believed the car was eastbound, and attempting a left hand turn when it was struck by the truck, that was headed westbound, EPS said on the scene.

Later, police said one person in the car had died, and another had been taken to hospital with injuries.

As a result of the crash, the area was expected to be affected for several hours and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
