Police have been investigating a fatal collision that left a female pedestrian dead in west Edmonton overnight.
Investigators said the incident happened at the intersection of Webber Greens Drive and Lewis Greens Drive just after 8 p.m. Friday as a 69-year-old woman got off a bus and attempted to cross the street.
The woman was crossing Webber Greens Drive when she was hit by a Dodge Dakota.
Officials said several witnesses attempted to help until emergency officials arrived but the woman was declared dead at the scene.
Ryan Fowler who has lived in the community for four years described the intersection as busy and dangerous.
“People probably go 70 or 80 clicks down that road.
“We see them flying by every day,” he told CTV News.
Police said they do not believe alcohol was a factor.
No charges have been laid yet against the 25-year-old driver of the truck.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact police, 780-423-4567, #377 from a mobile phone or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-8477.
