More than a day after shots rang out near a north side mall, Edmonton Police have confirmed the death of a man in his 20s is a homicide, and have released descriptions of two suspects officers are looking for.
On Thursday, police said the Medical Examiner confirmed 26-year-old Artur Ugodnikov was shot and killed in the upper parkade of Londonderry Mall, just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
In addition, police said they’re looking for two male suspects in connection to the homicide.
One of the suspects is described as:
- Between 18 and 25-years-old
- Between 167 cm (5’6”) and 177 cm (5’10”) tall
- Medium to dark complexion
- Dark hair
At the time of the shooting, the suspect was reportedly wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The second suspect is described as:
- Between 18 and 25-years old
- Between 167 cm (5’6”) and 177 cm (5’10”) tall
- Medium to dark complexion
- Dark hair
On Tuesday night, that suspect is described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with gray pants.
Both of the suspects were described as having slender, athletic builds.
Police said the suspects were last seen fleeing the scene west, on foot, through the mall parking lot.
Investigators have reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses, and have talked to a number of witnesses - but they're asking for anyone else who may have more information to come forward.
"This is a solvable crime, there's people out there who know what happened," Staff Sgt. David Christoffel with the EPS Homicide Section said. "There's people out there that know who is responsible, and they have a moral obligation to come forward and provide us with this information."
