Edmonton police have seized footage from CTV Edmonton, as part of their investigation into an alleged attempted murder dating back to early April.

On Tuesday, April 23, an Edmonton Police Service officer came to CTV News in west Edmonton – with a Production Order.

That order required CTV News to turn over copies of footage recorded on the scene of an aggravated assault on Tuesday, April 9.

The investigation began after officers were called that morning to an apartment building in the area of 182 Street and 85 Avenue.

A short time after police arrived; a 43-year-old woman was rushed to hospital.

Police on the scene told CTV News the incident was a family-related aggravated assault with a weapon.

The incident sparked a manhunt for the suspect – who was found and arrested in West Edmonton Mall that afternoon.

Jordan Kankam, 20, is now facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of an offensive weapon.

A CTV News crew was one of the first on the scene, and recorded video that police said could help in the investigation.

CTV Edmonton News Director Dan Kobe turned over the footage to EPS Constable Kayla Hurd and Constable Johnathan Henderson Tuesday afternoon, and additional footage was surrendered to investigators Wednesday.
