The Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) announced Wednesday that a bull-riding event would be coming to Edmonton for the first time in the fall of 2017.

Officials with OEG announced that in November, 2017, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Monster Energy Canada Tour Finals will be held in Edmonton, to coincide with the annual Farm Fair exhibition.

The finals event, set for November 10 to 12, will be the main event in a 10-day ‘western lifestyle’ festival.

“Edmonton is going to have the opportunity to see the best bull riders in the world compete,” PBR CEO Sean Gleason said. “We’re going to crown our national champions here, we’re excited to bring the toughest animals and the toughest athletes to Edmonton.”

The PBR finals are replacing the Canadian Finals Rodeo after negotiations between the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, Oilers Entertainment Group and the City to secure the CFR fell through.

That event is moving to Saskatoon in 2017.
