Leduc RCMP are asking for help from the public to identify a suspect believed to have been behind an attempted armed robbery at a local store Thursday night.

RCMP said on October 29, at about 8:40 p.m., officers were called to an attempted armed robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the area of 50 Street and 62 Avenue in Leduc.

It was reported that the male suspect approached the clerk at the pharmacy counter, and handed over a note saying he had a gun, and to fill a bag up with cash.

When the request wasn’t immediately granted, the suspect fled the store on foot – no weapon was produced or seen, no cash was obtained and no one was injured.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • About 30 years old
  • About 180 cm (5’11”) tall
  • Heavy set
  • Clean shaven

He was wearing glasses, a blue ball cap with a Labatt Blue logo, a dark blue or black coat and blue jeans.
