A British Columbia woman has died, after a serious highway collision took place Tuesday morning.
Evansburg RCMP said on Tuesday, at about 10:30 a.m., officers, and Yellowhead County Paramedics and Firefighters were dispatched to a single vehicle crash west of Wildwood on Highway 16.
Investigators said it’s believed a car, driven by a 71-year-old woman from New Westminster B.C., left the road and rolled, coming to a rest on its roof in water.
The driver and the 34-year-old B.C. man in the passenger’s seat were pulled from the car by passersby who stopped to help.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the passenger was airlifted by STARS to hospital in Edmonton with serious injuries.
Police said investigators had found both were wearing seatbelts, and speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
