Staff at Northlands had a very busy weekend as they transformed Rexall Place three times in just 24 hours.

The work began on Wednesday as the Kings of Leon played in the venue, which had to be altered for one of the Oil Kings hockey games on Thursday.

Only to convert it back for Hedley fans Friday night.

We then start laying out the stage areas, we take the glass down around the arena we take the nets down, we'll take all the signs off the dashers and again we go to that cleaning,” venue director Adam Cook explained.

Following the concert, crews readied Rexall for another playoff hockey game on Saturday.

It was then a frenzy as staff prepped for an Edmonton Rush lacrosse game.

“If the Oil Kings had gone into two overtimes we would have been a little pressed but we were ready to do this in two and a half hours instead of the four and a half that we got so we were on the ball,” Cook said.

According to the Northlands Facebook page, it is the first time in history they made the transition from hockey ice to lacrosse turf in a single day.

To make their deadline, Cook said they brought in extra staff.

“It takes about eight to 10 hours but we usually operate with about half the crew we're operating with right now as well.”

They said it took 15 employees to complete the job.

Fans said the swift work was impressive.

“I can't believe how quickly they're changing it over and I think it's pretty awesome they can do so much in a matter of days.  I think it's pretty great,” Falon Letourneau told CTV News.

“I know they do it pretty quick down in the States for some NBA games but I've never heard of three different events in 24 hours before,” Paul McMillan said.
