Days after RCMP were called to a Chipman, Alberta home – in what investigators called a double homicide – police said a man was facing charges of second-degree murder in connection to the deaths.
Police said Raymond Nickerson, 36, had been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jason Williams, 40. Later Tuesday, CTV News learned another charge had been added, and a total of two charges of second-degree murder had been laid against Nickerson.
Williams was one of two men found dead when police arrived on scene, after shots were reportedly fired.
On Monday, CTV News identified the other deceased man as Terry Sutton, 39.
CTV News learned Tuesday that Sutton and Williams had worked together in the field for years for an oil-related company.
Williams’ mother, Debbie, spoke to CTV News from Prince Edward Island Tuesday.
“I was talking to him an hour before this happened, making a video acting silly, telling me how much he loved me,” Debbie Williams said.
She said she is still in shock over what happened.
“He calls me every day, no matter where he is, just to see how I’m doing, that’s what I’m going to miss the most,” Williams said.
Nickerson is in custody, and is scheduled to appear in court April 6.
