The trial for the man accused of escaping custody while out on a day pass in 2011 was put off for more than a week Monday.
William Wade Bicknell is facing a number of charges, including kidnapping, unlawful confinement and attempted murder.
The charges stem from an incident in 2011, when Bicknell was on a pass from the Drumheller Correctional Institution.
Police said he gained control of the vehicle he was travelling in, and held a correctional worker hostage.
It’s believed Bicknell made his way to Edmonton March 11, 2011, while collecting firearms and ammunition along the way – he was arrested 10 days later after engaging with police in a shootout near Sexsmith.
At the time, he had been serving time for the murder of Angela Steer, who was beaten to death with a bat in 2011.
Bicknell's case is being held over until November 12.
