Days after RCMP said a man in his 20s died after his truck crashed into a creek south of Slave Lake, the deceased man was identified.
Police were first called to Highway 44, on May 11, 2013 at about 9 a.m., after reports came in of a vehicle submerged in a creek – about 62 kilometres south of Slave Lake.
Investigators determined that the truck had been traveling southbound when it left the road, and hit a guardrail, before it flipped and ended up upside down in the creek.
Highway 44 was closed for several hours after the collision, while emergency crews worked on the scene.
On Monday, RCMP said Justin Keddy, 26, of Slave Lake was the driver of the truck.
Also Monday, police released a photo of the truck being removed from the water over the weekend, officers said the truck driver had stopped on the highway at the scene, and the driver volunteered to help remove the truck.
