A day after officers were called to a home in the Hamptons neighbourhood, after a realtor went inside to find two people dead, police released the names of the deceased – the victims of the city’s most recent homicide.
Police said the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed the autopsies in the deaths of two people found in the southwest home Wednesday afternoon.
EPS confirmed Irfan Ahmed Qureshi, 37, and Suzanne Marie Tran, 27, both of Edmonton, died as a result of gunshot wounds.
Officers were called to the home, in the area of 49 Avenue and 213 Street on Wednesday afternoon.
These are Edmonton’s 7th and 8th homicides of 2016.
Qureshi’s family released a statement late Thursday night: “Some people may know what it means to lose a family member. To us, he was a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend. Irfan will be greatly missed.”
The statement went on to say the family would be having a private, invite-only service – and asked for privacy.
