A teenage girl was allegedly assaulted by three youths near the LRT station in the area of 105 Avenue and Kingsway Avenue Thursday afternoon.

13-year-old Cheyanne Piccott was approached by three teenagers – whose genders have not been identified by police – around 3:00 p.m., and was allegedly assaulted physically until two good Samaritans came to her rescue.

“This girl I’ve never seen before but she goes to school, she grabbed my hair punched me two times and then I wanted to leave,” Piccott told CTV Edmonton. “They grabbed my head and smashed my head in four times. They were just pushing me and punching me and kicking me.”

Piccott said that a group of people – including adults – were watching and filming the beating, but didn’t do anything about it.

“I was just praying that someone was going to come and help out,” she said. “If those two girls didn’t come help me, I’d be in severe condition.”

When these two girls showed up, they grabbed Piccott, walked away and called 911.

“Four or five of the girls were beating her, and every time she’d try to get up and walk away, they’d grab her by the hair, smash her head into the concrete,” one of the good Samaritans told CTV Edmonton. “She was sitting, screaming and crying that she needed help, and no one would help her. And I thought we were watching a 13-year-old kid getting murdered by other kids. So I just wanted to help her.”

The two girls took Piccott to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Piccott said the two main attackers, who are in her own class, have bullied her since the start of the school year in September.

“I’m changing schools,” Piccott said. “I never want to go back to that school.”

Edmonton Police are investigating the assault in partnership with Edmonton Transit and Edmonton Public Schools, and no arrests have been made at this time.
