Attendees of an Edmonton mosque are condemning the people responsible for this week’s deadly bombings in Brussels.
At Friday’s service, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community focused on praying for victims of the attacks as it work to clear up misconceptions about their religion.
“As a Muslim community here in Edmonton, we are always concerned what goes on globally, especially when it's done in the name of Islam,” said Dr. Mohyuddin Mirza with the Al-Hadi Mosque.
“And that's not the Islam which we preach and which we practice.”
Imam Nasir Mahmood Butt hopes services, such as the one held Friday, will help local Muslims remember what is important.
“There is a great message that's given from the community and that is love for all, hatred for none,” said Butt.
The group also passed a resolution to condemn the atrocities of killing innocent people in the name of Islam.
