A day after Oilers President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe drew ire from Oilers fans, over comments he made differentiating between two types of team supporters, Lowe apologized in a video posted on the team’s official website.

The video, which was posted on the Oilers website Tuesday evening, Lowe apologized to fans saying emotions had run high on Monday, and his comment wasn’t clear.

“We understand we see many of our fans at Rexall Place, but we have hundreds of thousands of fans who never get to Rexall Place,” Lowe said in the video. “We appreciate each and every fan.

“I did not make that clear yesterday and if I offended anyone, I apologize.”

Back on Monday, a press conference introducing new Oilers GM Craig MacTavish got heated when reporters pushed Lowe about the NHL team’s less-than-stellar record.

“We have two types of fans,” Lowe said Monday. “We have paying customers and we have people who watch the games, who we still care about, but certainly the people who go to the games and support, we spend a lot of time talking to them.”
