Alberta gets to hang on to its lucky record.

One of the four winning tickets for the extraordinary large Lotto 6/49 jackpot was purchased in the province.

The jackpot was to be the largest in Canadian history at $55 million but a last minute surge in sales boosted it up.

“It was an amazing jackpot,” Western Canada Lottery Corporation spokesperson, Andrea Morantz, said.

“It got up to $63.4 million dollars, which absolutely blows the old record out of the water.”

Although she said the ticket was bought outside of Calgary and Edmonton, Marantz explained they cannot divulge the exact location where the ticket was purchased.

“This was elsewhere in Alberta.

“We don’t narrow it down any further than that.”

It may be several days before the winners are revealed to the public.

“They may not realize themselves for a few days. Once they do know they need to make an appointment, they need to come in present the ticket and then there is some paper work to do,” she explained.

The three other winning tickets were purchase in B.C.

Each ticket is worth $15.8 million.

The WCLC allows winners a year to claim their prize.
