Marking the eighth time the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded a recall of ground beef products from Edmonton-based XL Foods, more products have been added to the list.
Sixty more products have been added to the list, including pepperoni, beef jerky, sausage and ground beef.
The recall also includes unlabeled and/or unbranded ground beef products available for sale between August 24 and September 25, and the stores might not be identified in the CFIA’s product list – including small stores, local meat markets and butcher shops.
Anyone who is unsure if they have the affected ground beef product should check with the retailor who sold them the product.
More than 300 products in total have been recalled.
The recalls started on September 16, no illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming the meat.
More information on the recall, including a list of recalled products, can be found online.
The expanded recall came only hours after the U.S. closed their border to beef products from XL Foods.
